Suitable for inclusion in chronological, thematic or specialised PZM collections.
Stamp folders (PZM) occupy a distinct and recognisable position within Dutch philately. These official issues combine original, mint stamps with explanatory texts and a carefully presented format. A PZM is therefore not a collection of loose stamps, but a cohesive collectible in which issue, context and design deliberately come together.
The design of PZM issues has evolved over the years in line with the way stamps are presented. Earlier folders are generally structured around an insert card within a folded cardboard cover, while later issues have adopted a more book-like format with multiple pages and integrated explanatory text. This development reinforces the character of PZM as both a document and a collectible.
Each PZM contains original postage stamps that are individually catalogued and can also be collected separately. Within the folder, however, these stamps are deliberately presented as a coherent whole, complemented by text and visual material that provide additional context to the theme of issue. This makes PZM issues appealing to both thematic collectors and those who value background and context.
PZM issues are listed in Dutch stamp catalogues and have their own numbering and established catalogue value. This makes them suitable for chronological collections, annual collections and specialised PZM series. For many collectors, this independent cataloguing forms the basis for a clear and consistent collection structure.
